Deathrock.com: How did Bloody Dead & Sexy begin? How long did it take you to have your first gig and release your first song?

BDS: Wolfgang, Tim, Björn and me knew each other since we were children. At this time we decided to be a band and become famous any time. But it took years until we could do the music we wanted to do. We had no instruments and no idea of how to use them. It was 1996 or 1997 when we wrote our first real song. It was called 'Apologie' and we released it as a live-version on our first and only tape back in 1997. From time to time we still perform it live. We like it. The other songs on the tape were demo versions of 'Frau im See' and 'Hey Ho Armageddon!'.

Our first gig was also on a small local cross-over festival. We thought it was funny to perform there under a wrong name, I don’t remember. Deathrock was not popular at this time in Germany.

Deathrock.com: Is there a story behind your song 'Bloody Rose' or any other particular song?

BDS: In 1998 we were asked to contribute the song 'Hey Ho Armageddon!' to a compilation. We wanted to record it again and went to a big studio with a big producer who was responsible for many goth-club hits here in Germany. This was a mistake. He didn't understand anything about our sound and always talked about how perfect Rammstein use their guitars. He fucked it up. How I mentioned, deathrock was not very appreciated at this time. Well, we trashed this recording of 'Hey Ho' that he wanted to make into another club hit, and instead we put a song on the compilation, we had written a few days before and he didn't touch. It was called 'Bloody Rose' which made us popular later in the underground scene.
