Right now i'm reading a book about the japanese kamikaze-pilots, "Genda's Blade". Really interesting stuff.

Edit: Now i see that the book is not about kamikaze pilots.. only a little bit. It's a book about japanese pilots during the IIWW. Still very interesting.

I am re-reading "Speed Tribes" about the underground subcultures in Japan kinda retro since it's set in 1992. The subjects are "bosozoku"(street/biker gangs),Yakuza, otakus(hardcore nerds),porn stars,Korean dope dealers,College students,"Uyoku dantai" (extreme Japanese nationalist right-wing groups),and the seedy side(molestation) of hard rock and boy bands. Oh yeah Anarchist/Communism/Feminist groups....

Probably ought to get back to reading the Terry Prachett book I've got. Hmm...but I'm enjoying reading Drop Dead Magazine too much.

Right now I'm cheating. Listening to Civil Disobedience by Thoreau on Audiobook.
Reading The Stuff of Thought by a really freaking genius psycholinguist, Dr. Steven Pinker.
Still working on The Philosophy of Frederick Neitcsze (you know, I never can spell that name...) by H.L. Mencken.

Yea, loving this shit.

Should start reading these for my pro-seminar group some time in the future:

Horace Walpole, The Castle of Otranto (1764)
Anne Radciffe, The Mysteries of Udolpho (1794)
Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey (1798)
Matthew Lewis, The Monk (1796)
Mary Shelley, Frankenstein (1818)

The topic of my pro-seminar? The Gothic Novel. I'm such a cliché.

I liked the corrupt cops being forced to solve mysteries. Thought it was a good quick read. Seemed to capture the feel of SE Asia, which I was missing at the time. Had some unexpected twists. I haven't read the subsequent books, though.
