Gimme Something Better is a new book about the Bay Area Punk scene. Looks pretty good. It's not out until Sept 29, but they've put up a website with a lot of cool bonus materials. (Flyer Archive, Photos, bonus chapters, etc.)

Read about the SF Misfits Incident here http://gimmesomethingbetter.com/excerpts/the-misfits-incident

Book is in Locations, o...k...Literature board would suit it better.
I thought bay area was reinventing the scene, alas. :P

If you like I'll move it where it should be.

Wow. I new about the brawl in S.F., but had no idea the Misfits instigated it or that it was that bad.

It would be pretty cool if they did, it would be interesting to read about different scenes around the world.

 when the real horror comes everyone whimpers, shaking to their bones in fright and disbelief... what did they expect from the band that meshed Punk and Horror together... that show took the reality... the true essence of the violence/disrespect of punk... and the gore/fright of horror ... and totally mashed it all together.... and no one agrees with it. Incredible.

All the money the misfits get today for being REAL horror punk back then... and when people actually see the real deal... they throw bottles at'em and wanna kill'em.

in the end... it's all an art exhibit and going to the show ... you become apart of it... if you're in the front stage of GG ... you get shit on you and probably punched... I think the kid almost getting killed for being in front of a hostile retard with big muscles and his axe.... darwin approves.

I got the book. The first chapter is good so it seems promising.

I went to an book release event last night at the old On Broadway (now Broadway Space, which is a super cool venue that I somehow haven't been to). The event was called Punk Stories.

The event didn't really reflect the book, IMHO. It was a bit lame (best thing was Rozz Rezabek from Negative Trend) and I left early. I missed Penelope Houston from Avengers (who I love), but it wasn't Penelope and the Avengers so didn't miss too much.
