Welcome Gabrielle!

See I think with "Smoke my Brain" the higher production values only add to the intensity of the album. Give it another shot in a few weeks.

I love Plastique, but I have to say the last four tracks off their debut album were duds. Still I really enjoyed their debut.

Blacklist is as James put it, 'faceless' rock. I don't like them at all really.

Gotta admit it, 2009 is a great year for DR.

Hey Dorian, thnak you for the welcome :D

As for CG, I've actually listened to their album several times and still doesn't convince me for the same reasons I mentioned. But I like the band indeed, and think they're going to do really great with their new line up ;)

And talking about bands that captured my attetion this year, i could mention ie KASM's - with their Spayed album - and Romance - 3 EP's this year, no album yet - from England; and La Voz de tus Ausentes (and their side projects) - first EP "Es Aburrido, Es Asqueroso, Es como Estar Drogado" just out - from México.

Cheers!

Now, two weeks before the year is over, I can say that what most impressed me is the latest Varsovie release, "Etat Civil". Though it's not deathrock, I guess it fits. :)

It's officially 2010, and that means it's time to start listing the nominees for 2009.

ok, time to start rounding up the nominations and narrowing it down, lets see if we can actually do singles/eps/splits this year, maybe balled up into one together?

Mark, will there be mentioned new releases of old stuff? For example, "Fur Immer" by Ligne D'hiver, which was recorded in the 80's but released in 2009 by Brouillard Definitif much impressed me....

Reissues we had nominated in the past, Dorian did, but it is still a reissue, not actual new work.
Possibility of a category for reissues of the year exist, but the point except a mention is kind of cloudy.
Mentioned as a reference is an entirely different matter.
