Alright so before we had a system where users could submit reviews for new albums to be posted on the DR.com site. Since that's been out of action for sometime now, I'd like to propose that we post our own album reviews here in this sub-forum.

The idea is to start threads for reviews. The review can be for an album, single, LP, EP, or compilation. Reviews can be for whatever album you'd like in the genres we normally discuss, from 1st gen post-punk/ goth to the latest in fringe and DR. Yes reviews covering witchhouse, noise rock and the like are still welcome here. Reviews can be any length, though preferably around 500 words. Albums will be rated from 1 to 5 (five being the best).

The only standard for writing here is that your thoughts are understood. Most of us here are competent enough to communicate clearly with each other, and there will be no critiques on your ability to creatively write (unless you request it). There will also be no format for reviews; you can review an album song by song, as a whole, or however you wish. In short, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to write your own review.

If a user disagrees with a review, they're more than welcome to post counter reviews or second opinion(s), so long as reviews remain civil, thoughtful, logical, and on topic. Counter reviews must be posted in the same thread. Reviews will not contain ad hominem attacks against other users in this forum (you are welcome to slam any band member you'd like), discuss grossly off-topic music (e.g. hip-hop or indie rock), or nothing at all (e.g. "fuck this album - 1 star"). Offending reviews will be deleted.

Please start a new thread if you're posting a review. Any counter reviews must be posted within the thread containing the original review-don't start a new thread if you're reviewing the same album that someone else already covered! Any review thread should have the following subject line (the idea being that we can search the threads):

[ALBUM/EP/LP/SINGLE] REVIEW: [TITLE GOES HERE]

Album Review: Joy Division - Closer
Single review: Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart

That's my proposal. We bitch and complain so often about how this band sucks or why that album is so misunderstood, well here's your chance to really discuss the music once again and actually say something in the process.
