funny, i found that for .45¢ in a san diego record shop bout 10 years ago, same place where my friend charles found the voodoo church 12" for $6. total random scores! not expecting to find em at all. nice luck. 11th hour, a bit gloomy, slow california style gothic from the 90s. i *think* it was the band that tony havoc was in back then. not 100% sure.

heres a link to a few MP3s. srry for the abysmal quality, theyre all i have acces to ATM.

Ok so listing obscure bands is great and all, but how about links to where we can hear some of their tunes? Songs on Youtube, or if their material is out of print, links to where we can grab them would be nice.

Hmm... my top 5 bands I feel are under appreciated:

1) Drowning Pool
Had two albums before they became Mumbles, then disappeared. While the album Satori is considered their best work, I feel their s/t "Green" album is my favorite, showcasing more of their writing range... very somber and atmospheric, it's even got one industrial song in there. My favorite is "Edith, Hold Out Your Hand" though (the album vsn is better/different than the one on their Myspace).

2) Burning Skies of Elysium
Very catchy post-punk music with a very melancholic pop sound, I'm surprised they didn't make it big. I think they resemble a bit of The Cure or The Cult, plus they love the saxophone.

3) Handful of Snowdrops
Another band I'm surprised didn't make it as big as they should, the production of their music is so clean, smooth, and polished, you'd think they came out of this era. Catchy and very easy to dance to. They've apparently reunited to re-release their old material -- I hope they will tour or something.

4) Beautiful Pea Green Boat
Should appeal to fans of Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, etc of female-fronted dream pop/darkwave bands, though they take a more beat-driven electronic approach as well.

5) ....................... not sure who to put here, yet. Too many to pick from, and I know I'm forgetting something, but most of 'em just have a few songs that really catches my ear, while the above are all bands I personally would have loved to have followed to the end! I, erm, will think on that. *i* *i*
Oh, but if newer bands are allowed, then I'd throw out Another Species.... they're a 2006 deathrock act I'm in love with. One the of most gloomy sounding bands in the genre now, I'd say (they got free downloads!) http://www.anotherspecies.co.uk/
