The original post:

La Ghost:http://www.myspace.com/cherchezlaghost
Ranges from garagey punk to surfy deathrock. Most goth-y song is probably "Dreams".

Tearist:http://www.myspace.com/teariststst

Minimal sleek lo-fi punk-speed darkwave with old-school EBM-y touches.

Pleasure Cruise:http://www.myspace.com/pleasurecruiseatl

Dark noisey dance music. James would like them, and they are from ATL. So yeah.

Yeah, Pleasure Cruise are pretty good. The girl in that band is pretty hot.

Also don't let Witch Hats ever see you call them goth, they'll punch your lights out.

They're not, really, but they're kinda dark, punky, and weird, so i figured "eh close enough"

Since we're starting to mix 'fringe bands' in the 'new goth/ DR bands thread,' I figured it would be best to keep that thread for more conventional bands and this one for the so called fringe bands.

Basically a fringe band is a group who plays a more amorphous, experimental, and or noisy type of coldwave, goth/ 'lo-fi goth' (heh) or DR. So get cracking!

A prime example would be a band Captain mentioned in the new goth/ DR bands thread, Pleasure Cruise (http://www.myspace.com/pleasurecruiseatl). Great noisy 'goth band.'

Rules:

1. Other members need to chime in.
2. Don't turn this thread into a place to bash or criticize what other people like--we get it, you're a unique flower, etc. It is not only old, but some members and the mods have officially run out of tolerance with this kind of pompous douche baggery.
3. It may be difficult to avoid certain bands who cross into goth, or rest on the fringes of the genre, whether it be musically or aesthetically. Either deal with it or don't discuss it here. Your call.
4. With rule 3 said, try and stick with the spirit of OP's request.
5. Play nice.

Violators will have their posts deleted so stay on topic. Now onto the thread.

Also think this should be stickied as I made it to be a reference point similar to 'New goth / deathrock bands? acts? huh?'. tia

I like Bubonic Plague.

As for making this thread sticky, let's see how it goes first.

Your call.

5. Play nice.

My contribution: Fever Ray

Ambient, melodic electro. Beautiful tunes with a beautiful singer who adopts a dark aesthetic which I absolutely love.

*Ignore the 'black metal' tag on the Myspace page, there is absolutely nothing black metal about Fever Ray at all!*

I think the Rapture is very good, very deathrock friendly, and too frequently overlooked.

The Knux are a good current rap group which usually uses pretty dark samples. But the rapping is just regular rapping, in both style and subject matter. So don't worry, it's not like ICP or something-no white guys in clown makeup HERE, nosirry.

Part Chimp plays good noise-rock.

Shit and Shine are good too. Experimental noise music on this one.
