OFFICIAL NOMINATIONS FOR ALBUM OF THE YEAR 2009

In conjunction with the best of EPs thread, we will be closing the submissions for nominees by January 15th. Hopefully by February we'll have the polls running again, if not we'll count votes with each member putting marbles in a jar.

Or we can just have each member post once in a thread with their vote. Whichever.

We will be releasing a podcast a few days after candidate submissions have been closed. You will see the official nominees here. Any help in tracking down a single from the albums nominated for the podcast will be greatly appreciated. PM me if you can help.

CANDIDATES FOR 2009 ALBUM OF THE YEAR NOMINEES

This is the final post I will be making listing the candidates for the official '2009 album of the year nominees.' List your favorite album you'd like to see nominated for album of the year in this thread. If we the album passes our criteria for selection, it will be included in the album of 2009 poll next month.

What are the criteria?

• Album must be -billy, *real* coldwave, darkwave, deathrock, goth rock, *real* industrial, 'fringe' rock, or post-punk.
* Note: Fringe bands - viewtopic.php?f=94&t=9589
• Album cannot be so obscure that no one has heard of the group before being mentioned here.
• Album cannot have too much exposure in the broader music community. This is not because we dislike albums with mainstream appeal, but because we want to focus in on more relevant, underground albums.

- Weird mixture of house and Industrial Records style tape loops. Interesting music, but it's not for this list. Fans of Industrial Records artists or early EBM may like this.

Eheh, a few mistakes to fix:
- it's NOT a reissue. It's the EP with one new song and three TOTALLY RE-RECORDED old songs.

The album is called "Childish Behavior"

Why everyone, starting with Mick Mercer call it "ghostS"? I look at the CD I have and it's absolutely crearly written there "ghost".

The EP is called "Nonsense". There also was a full-length album, called "What's the news", but it hasn't been officially released. It can be downloaded here. (it's the "official" download)

Well, all Ive seen as the mistakes.

Now, - HUGE thanks for mentioning Grotesque Sexuality, it's a pleasure for us, really. And really nice neighbourhood, hehe.

And for reissues, I just wanted to pay attention that we have many good records of the past which were never released before, or were hard to find ones.
I'd love to mention Neva, Killer Ethyl, Ligne D'Hiver, Danza Meccanica - Italian Synth wave compilation 82-87 (which is brilliant!) and Cold Phoenix, of course....

Btw, in addition to "something strange" like the last Skeletal Family, we have Complot and Clair Obscur new albums.

While sampling these I disliked the vocalist of Pre but the rest of the music started to grow on me. We're not accepting no-wave/ noise rock albums unless they have some cross-genre appeal. Regardless there is some good stuff here that I recommend people check out.
