It's gotten pretty good reviews surprisingly. I'm scared of listening to it though.

Apparently it's all the original members. May be good.

All the original members, produced by the same guy as After The Snow and Ricochet Days, and is a return to that sound apparently.

AMG gave it a good review, and the song previews give us a the 80's pop sounding Modern English we know. But judging by the samples I heard, it's not "Mesh and Lace" by any means. It's not that dark as the AMG review lets on.

It's nice to see the band is still alive though.

Alright I'm listening to it now. It's....something. I don't hate it but David's right, it's not very dark. It seems okay but I'm not sure this is something I would want to listen to again. It's well played pop/rock with some nice guitar effects and what not though so I'm sure someone somewhere will enjoy it.

AMG gave it a good review

I long since gave up believing anything opinion based written on AMG. Their 'expert reviewers' have, shall we say, interesting opinions (even allowing for the fact I disagree vehemently with the very idea of experts in appraising art or music).

I always take AMG's reviews with a grain of salt, especially considering just how grossly off they are when it comes to genres, or how often they seem to just dismiss dark music as angsty posturing rather than an art. However, when discussing the music itself in terms of accessibility, or when discussing the craftsmanship of an album, I find myself agreeing with them. But that's about it, their measurement of quality or enjoyment of an album is by no means a standard I follow.

Anyway I also posted a link to AMG here is because you can sample some of "Soundtrack" on their site. I couldn't find samples anywhere else.

The Allmusic office is not far from my house in Ann Arbor, Michigan. haha. Definitely to be held with a grain of salt.

Could you do us all a favor and leave a flaming bag on their doorstep?

I read about this the other day, and was really hoping for some revival on the Mesh & Lace kind of sound. Disappointing that it's not, but still good to see they've gotten back together.

I thought they stopped reviewing music for a while. I looked up Blank Dogs, Blessure Grave, Magick Daggers, Led er Est, and plenty of other newer music and it was hardly reviewed or listed.

On topic: Would feel good if we wrote Modern English an e-mail requesting they make another "Mesh and Lace" album.
