Screams For Tina

Location: Los Angeles

Active: 1985 – 1998

Gothic band formed in 1985, Los Angeles by Marvin Rinnig and Warren Mansfield (Red Wedding), later adding Billy Budd, Kent Bancroft (Like Wreckage), Tom Wenzel. They performed at clubs like Zombie Zoo, Krypt and Anti-Club.

Their 1986 ‘Strobelight Funeral’ EP recorded as a duo is a landmark release infusing California Deathrock with the emergent gothic rock sound and aesthetic. They followed with a double-7” in 1992 and a full self-titled album in 1994. By this time they had taken a Sisters Of Mercy approach. They remained active until 1998.

They were included on The Krypt Club’s 1988 vinyl compilation ‘American Gothic’ and a live VHS at Zombie Zoo, another Los Angeles deathrock club. In 2002 they resurfaced with a few new tracks and compilation appearances resulting in the 2003 AD’ Ep on Strobelight Records, a Swiss label that took inspiration from Screams For Tina’s debut EP.
