info

the southern death cult formed in 19xx, then renamed as the death cult for a brief time in the mid 80s. dropping "death" from their name to break into the american charts, they appeared on television and recorded "dreamtime" as the cult.

nigel preston and billy duffy of theatre of hate joined the line-up at the formation of the death cult. billy duffy remained for the cult for the remainder of their existence. in the late 90s the cult finally called it quits.

in 1999 the cult reformed for a tour. ian astbury and billy duffy were the only two to remain in the original line up. they played primarily cult hits and did not delve into original death cult and southern death cult material. as a rock band they would've murdered them anyway...the cult was altogether completely different than its preceding forms.
