Fly-by gunch. Berlin, Friedrichstraße Ubahn.

The smeared graffiti on this subway car flew passed me in Berlin’s Friedrichstraße UBahn station, I tried to catch it before it ran away.

Overhead Spray, red. Berlin, Kottbusser Tor

October 4th, 2010

Best to keep your eyes open at all times passing through Kottbusser Tor, Berlin’s most dangerous Ubahn Station, located in Xberg. If the Junkies, Thieves, Drunks, Police Dogs, Tourists or Wastoids dont get you, something else will. Like an ex-girlfriend. While glancing overhead for potential death from above, i discovered this fantastic spray across the ceiling in red paint.

Sunken Rags. Berlin, Oranienstraße.

this nasty texture of a wet paper tissue was found on Berlin’s Oranienstraße, like the previous post. After a rainy weekend, some trash was washed away, and some trash got even trashier.

Berlin Oranienstraße black drippy spray

Finally have a camera again so the splatters are back. Found this one out on the streets of Berlin this week. Just a little scratch and drip. Subtle. I like it.

Graffiti on windowshutters street level, Berlin, 2007. Somewhere in Kreuzberg shortly before my second Italian tour. Journal entry that day reads “In Bocca al Lupo”. I used this for my 2009 desktop image. High quality capture with Samsung 860/Exilim 5mpx point and shoot.

SplatterBlog Introduction

May 5th, 2010

SplatterBlog is a collection of my photos of gunch, splatters, messes and dripping textures I photograph around the world on my travels. Having run with the nome de plume of Splatter for the length of my professional career as a multimedia artist, writer and DJ, I’ve developed an affinity for these kind of things and they are a big part of the textures I use in my designs. I admire the chaos and the transience of these kinds of things. A smear of paint on the wall or a ground, most usually happy accidents… these are the things that captivate my attention. So take them and use them as you will, for your own designs or textures, or if you happen to appreciate these naturally occurring urban phenomenon as much as I do, solely for the visual aspect.
